About...
My name is Kirsten Gail Nunez. I go by Gail, but some people have started to call me Kirsten. (A lot of my friends like to call me K.Gail). I'm 20 years old and live in New York. I'm a junior in college at SUNY Oneonta in upstate NY, where I am Dietetics major/Health and Wellness minor.  I play intramural volleyball, am vice president of the Food and Nutrition Association (a club on campus for Dietetics majors), go to all of my friends' bands' shows, am always doing work in the library because my major is intense (ahhh), but I still go out to parties and hang out with friends as much as possible. And I somehow manage to squeeze in this little business called Limette Jewelry :o). I am always creating and making things - there doesn't go a day that I don't make something, whether it be jewelry making, sewing, painting...my day feels completely empty if I don't. This little business not only helps me satisfy these artsy cravings, but allows me to share pretty things with other people.

When it comes to accessories/fashion/jewelry, I am influenced by a wide variety of things. Because of this, I've been told my style can sometimes by unclassifiable, but I like it that way. I love anything influenced by the Victorian era, Indian culture, mermaids, old school punk, and the 50's. Anything that has studs, glitter, leopard print, hearts, sequins, turquoise, plaid, paisley, or cameos, it's my kind of thing. And if it's girly, bohemian, retro or 80's,  I'll probably like it. I like mixing and matching things that are so vastly different and trying to make it work somehow.

I love thrift shopping, I drink too much coffee and take way too many polaroids. I probably own more earrings and necklaces than anyone should be allowed to. I am easily pleased and I am always willing to meet new people. I love: mango smoothies, sewing, making things, hummingbirds, finding comfort in silence, long conversations, wandering, cute cafes, caramel lattes, blueberry coffee, the Philippines, making lists, orange lollipops, dachshunds!, baby polar bears, meeting new people, baking, big hugs, little stores that no one knows about, simplicity, live music, artsy things, Tim Walker's photography, New York City, and the little things in life.

Limette Jewelry ....

I started Limette Jewelry in October of 2006 - I love the idea that someone else across the town, state, country or world is wearing something I made. Most of the jewelry is made from vintage pieces, so most of the pieces are one-of-a-kind. "Limette" is pronounced Lim-ett. It is a made up word, but kind of not. If I remember correctly, I was looking up the French translations for "sweet lime" and this is what I ended up with. I'm not entirely sure if it's the correct translation or if that's even the right pronunciation, but...I guess I just adapted it, somewhat. I am thinking of changing the name in the future, but until then, it'll be Limette Jewelry.

The shop went on an unexpected hiatus during my Spring 2008 semester, due to my intense course workload. I unfortunately had to entirely push this shop to the side because I was wayyyy too busy (thank you, Organic Chemistry.) This hiatus extended into the entire 2008 Summer, which was completely unintentional; the company that hosted my website, Pixelled Solutions, had been undergoing some crazy owner changes and it just suddenly shut down (AFTER I PAID $30 FOR ANOTHER YEAR OF HOSTING, ugh!)...I don't know what happened to them, but if they somehow come back to life, DON'T host your website with them. Limette Jewelry is currently hosted on Bravenet and all has been quite well.
